Importing from Field Notes

You can import data from Field Notes into DoReveal to analyze participant activities, media responses, and transcripts in one place. DoReveal automatically combines all entries into structured transcripts for analysis.



Export Data from Field Notes

  1. Log in to Field Notes
  2. Open Your Project
  3. Click Downloads
  4. Choose External Integration (used for DoReveal).
  5. Wait for the export to be processed.
  6. Download the generated JSON file to your computer.


Import Data into DoReveal

  1. Open or Create a Study
    • Log in to DoReveal.
    • Open an existing study or create a new one.
  2. Click Add Interviews.
  3. Click the Field Notes option. (If you don’t see the Field Notes option, contact support@doreveal.com to enable it.)
  4. Select the file downloaded from Field Notes.


How DoReveal Processes Field Notes Data


Once uploaded, DoReveal automatically:
  • Combines multiple activities across days into a single transcript per participant
  • Organizes responses chronologically
  • Includes all participant inputs:
    • Text responses
    • Images
    • Audio
    • Video
If audio or video responses are included:

  • DoReveal automatically transcribes them
  • Transcriptions are added to the participant transcript


Review  Data before Importing

  1. Preview Participants
    • View the list of participants detected in the file.
  2. Inspect Transcripts
    • Open individual previews to review:
      • Activity flow
      • Media responses
      • Chronological structure
  3. Play Media (Optional)
    • Verify video or audio files directly in the preview.

Complete the Import

  1. Click Import All (or select specific participants).


That's it. You can start to use the analysis features.
