Compare Cohorts
Cohort Comparisons in Reveal allow researchers to compare participant responses based on shared attributes (tags). This feature enables detailed analysis of trends and differences between groups, such as doctors vs. EMTs or men vs. women.
1. Tagging Participants
- Each participant can be tagged with attributes such as location, profession, gender, or experience level.
- To add or edit tags:
- Click Edit on a participant.
- View existing tags (e.g., Virginia, Nurse, Male).
- Add new tags as needed.
- These tags are later used to create cohort-based comparisons.
2. Creating a New Cohort Comparison
- Navigate to Cohort Comparison in the Analysis menu.
- Click New Comparison.
- Select the tags to define your comparison groups.
- Example: Doctors (Women) vs. Doctors (Men).
- You can add more cohorts, such as EMTs (Women) vs. EMTs (Men).
- This customization allows you to define highly specific comparisons.
3. Analyzing Cohort Comparisons
Once the comparison is generated, Reveal provides insights:
- Research questions are listed.
- For each question, responses from the selected cohorts are summarized.
- Expand each cohort to see detailed responses.
-
Similarities and differences between cohorts are automatically identified.
- Example:
- Both doctors and EMTs highlighted resistance to mask mandates.
- Doctors noted disagreements over safety measures.
- EMTs expressed confusion over delays and inadequate responses.
- Example:
Cohort Comparisons provide a structured way to analyze qualitative research by breaking down group-specific insights. By leveraging tags, researchers can efficiently compare different participant groups, uncover trends, and gain deeper analytical insights.
