Compare Interviews
Reveal enables researchers to quickly compare responses across multiple participants, identifying similarities and differences in qualitative data. These comparisons can be conducted at two levels:
- Individual Participant Level – Comparing responses across all participants for each research question.
- Cohort Level – Grouping participants based on shared characteristics (covered separately).
Using Interview Comparisons
1. Accessing Participant-Level Comparisons
- Open the Observation Grid where research questions and participant responses are displayed.
- Navigate to the bottom toolbar and click Interview Comparisons.
- Two new columns—Similarities and Differences—will appear in the grid.
2. Understanding the Comparison Output
- For each research question, Reveal scans responses across all participants and highlights common patterns (similarities) and contrasting viewpoints (differences).
- Clicking Expand allows researchers to see detailed insights.

3. Navigating to Source Transcripts
- Clicking on a participant's name within the comparison view takes you directly to the original transcript, providing full context for the AI-generated observation.
The Interview Comparisons feature in Reveal streamlines the process of identifying key themes, agreements, and conflicting perspectives across multiple participants. This powerful tool allows researchers to efficiently explore patterns and contradictions in qualitative data, enhancing insight generation.
