Creating a Study

A study is the foundational building block of Reveal. It serves as a logical grouping of interviews, research questions, and hypotheses that help guide your analysis. Each study represents a unique approach to your data, allowing you to conduct different analyses even on the same set of interviews.

Step 1: Click "Add New Study"

To create a study, navigate to your listing page and click on "Add New Study"

Step 2: Add Study Details

Required Fields:
  • Team: This field appears only if you are part of multiple teams. If not, it will be hidden.
  • Study Name: A title to help you identify your study.
  • Initial Research Questions: These are the key questions driving your study. They can be broad, like "Summary and pain points," or specific, such as "What did participants like about a particular feature?" You can refine these questions later, and Reveal will even suggest additional ones based on your interview content.
Optional Fields:
  • Hypothesis Testing: List any hypotheses you wish to test, entering each on a new line. Reveal will assess the interviews for evidence supporting or contradicting each hypothesis, indicating if the evidence is supportive, contradictory, mixed, or weak.
  • Redact Sensitive Information: If your recordings contain sensitive information such as Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI), enable this option to have Reveal redact these details during transcription. For a list of fields Reveal redacts, consult the documentation.
  • Analysis Output Language: Choose the language in which you want the analysis results.
  • Reveal Persona: Define a persona for Reveal to adopt during analysis. For instance, if your study focuses on value-based care in healthcare, you might set the persona to "Qualitative researcher with deep understanding of US healthcare and value-based care." This customization ensures a more targeted synthesis.
  • Analysis Frameworks: Specify any preferred analysis frameworks, such as "Grounded Theory" or "Narrative Analysis." Reveal will apply these frameworks and provide a consolidated analysis.
  • Add Interviews From Other Studies: Include interviews from other studies you have access to, if relevant.
