Analyze Participant Feedback by Stimuli (Concepts)


DoReveal allows you to analyze how participants respond to different stimuli (such as concepts, ads, pages, or messages) by using transcript-based detection. You can compare reactions, identify preferences, and understand how perceptions change across stimuli.

How Stimuli Analysis Works


DoReveal automatically detects when specific stimuli are mentioned in conversations and tags relevant parts of the transcript, enabling researchers to then query data based on these stimuli labels.
Please note that DoReveal analyzes spoken transcripts, not on-screen visuals. So it's important to mention the stimuli names during the interview conversations.


Prepare Your Interviews for Stimuli Analysis

For best results during interviews:
  • Clearly name each stimulus (e.g., “Concept A”, “Homepage”, “Pricing Page”)
  • Ensure moderators verbally reference the stimulus when discussing it
  • Reconfirm stimulus names when switching between concepts
  • Use consistent labels throughout the session

Define Stimuli in Study Setup

When creating or editing a study, you'll see a "Stimuli" field. Enter all stimuli used in the interviews. For example: 
  • Page names like Zipcar Homepage, How It Works Page, Pricing Page
  • Concept A, Concept B
  • Slide 1, Slide 2 

DoReveal uses these labels during processing for all interviews added to this study. Please note that interviews added before these labels are specified will not automatically be re-processed as this can disrupt any existing analysis that you might be referring to. If you need them to be re-processed, please contact us at support@doreveal.com.

Upload and Process Transcripts

  1. Upload Interviews
    • Add your transcripts or recordings to the study.
  2. Automatic Tagging
    • DoReveal scans transcripts and identifies where stimuli are discussed.
    • Relevant conversation segments are tagged with the corresponding stimuli.

Review Stimuli Tagging

  1. Open an Interview
    • Navigate to a transcript.
  2. Go to Conversations View
    • Review segmented conversation blocks.
  3. Identify Stimuli Tags
    • Each segment shows which stimulus is being discussed.

This helps verify that stimuli are correctly captured. If you see any gaps, please contact us at support@doreveal.com.

Analyze and Compare Stimuli


You can now analyze responses across different stimuli.

  1. Open AI Chat or Grid
  2. Ask a Comparison Question
    • Example:
      • How did participants feel about the Pricing Page vs the Homepage?
  3. Review Insights
    • DoReveal compares responses across the selected stimuli.
  4. Trace Back to Evidence
    • Click verbatim links to jump to exact transcript segments.

Best Practices
  • Use clear, unique, and consistent names
  • Ensure stimuli are spoken during interviews
  • Define stimuli before uploading interviews
  • Validate tagging in the Conversations view
