Introducing Chat with Your Study: Deeper, Smarter Research Conversations

Published: 4 days ago, by Alok Jain

We're thrilled to announce a major new feature in DoReveal: Chat with Your Study.

For researchers, one of the biggest challenges with AI tools has been making sense of large volumes of qualitative data. A typical study can include 20, 50, or even 100 interviews  -  far too much information for an AI model to process all at once.

Most tools get around this limitation by using mathematical retrieval methods (like RAG) that surface “closest matches.” While useful, this approach tends to favor the most common responses, often missing the subtle but critical insights that matter in research.

At DoReveal, we've always focused on capturing nuance. Our grid-based analysis already goes deeper than surface similarity, and now we've brought that same philosophy to chat.

Smarter Chatting, Backed by Evidence

With Chat, you can dive into your study through a familiar, conversational interface. Suggested prompts  -  tailored to your study  -  help you get started quickly. From there, you can ask your own questions and explore the data in powerful ways:

Some examples of what you can ask

  • Thematic Analysis: Ask complex, multi-part questions (e.g., How did healthcare workers manage their emotional responses during crisis?) and receive nuanced, evidence-backed insights.

  • Persona Creation: Generate distinct personas, complete with needs, profiles, and direct participant quotes.

  • Comparative Views: Request tabular comparisons by attributes like location, role, or demographic tags  -  always tied back to the original transcripts.

And because every insight is linked to source evidence, you can trust that the output isn't hallucinated.

Beyond Text: Journey Maps, Timelines & Visuals

Chat isn't limited to summaries. It can also generate visuals that bring research findings to life:

  • Customer Journey Maps: From trigger to decision, automatically mapped out with optional visual exports (SVG/PNG).

  • Jobs-to-be-done

  • Usability Test Timelines: Step-by-step reconstructions of participant sessions, including critical failures, pain points, and moments of confusion.

The best part? These outputs are not generic. They're grounded in your actual research data  -  always traceable back to the participant transcripts.
